28/09/07- Ko Pee-Pee

I got to Ko Pee-Pee today around noon. It was a beautiful sunny day, the perfect day to spend on the beach. And not just any beach, the most beautiful beach I ever saw. Unfortunately my camera is dead, so I have no pictures from the last couple of days, but the scenery is very well captured in my head!
Anyway, I have spent the last couple of days in Raily beach with Max and David. I already told you about the viewpoint and the lagoon trek we did. Well, in the following days the boys discovered rock climbing. On the first day both Max & David took a half day climbing course on a rocky mountain, I went with them and stayed with them the all time , admiring them for the courage with every new pick they reached. Max is a really natural born climber! Despite his sorrowful arms he climbed yesterday again, two days in a row!
I checked out from my really bad guest house yersteday, and the 3 of us shared a room in Max & David's luxury hotel. It was so nice to have a hot shower again and go for a night swim in the pool! I have spent a lot of time with these two over the last four days and I must admit I really learned to like both of them. Althought we are really different we finally got a chance to actually have a couple of nice conversations, to play cards & pool, to explorer the surroundings together, etc' .
Today, the 3 of us reached Ko Pee-Pee and we splited. Max & David rented a room in a very nice resort, too expensive for me tought. (The south is VERY expensive, I am speending twice than I planned :-(). So we splited, I checked into a guesthouse, I am not sure how the room is, I haven't really been there yet. I checked in, just left my bag and imideatly went to the beach, not to miss any moment of the sun. On my way I meet Oli (27, Germany), he stays in my guest house as well. We spent a nice day on the beach, had a nice dinner together. Oli enrolled for advanced diving course starting from tomorow, I wanted to enroll for beginers, but I am not sure, after the last try in Sinai maybe I shouldn't. I plan to go for snorkeling tomorrow and maybe later I will dare to try diving again.

I am now coming back from a very short night out, it is after 00:00 am here, and I already back in the guest house. There are two dance bars here and many pubs. The dance bar (Apache) had a fire show which I enjoyed much, but after the show, it is like Cactus in Ko-Pangan, and I am really sick of this! As the time goes by I undertand more and more that this scene is NOT for me. I mean with a lot of alcohol once in a while it could be nice. I guess I am getting old & geeky :-), and when there is no Maxim (my Kushkush) to push me out, I just prefer to stick with my book. So I am going to read my book for a while and to bed, I snorkel tomorrow!

Be well! I love you & Miss you all MUCH!

Raily Beach, Krabi

I did stayed for the black moon party as well, and it nothing worth to write about, or maybe I just really had enough of parties and Ko-Pangan. Anyway, the next day on the 23/09, day which again started very late (and I really hated it), I decided to move on. Itai & Adi were leaving in the evening to Bagkok, David & Max to Ko-Samui for a night, Maxim staying in Ko-Pangan with Tamar and her friend. I packed my bag, went to the center and bought a ticket to Krabi, night boat and then couple of hours on a bus. My destination was Raily beach in Krabi, I heard so many great things about the place and was really exited to move. I wasn't sad to move like I was when I left Pai, I guess it means it was really time to go. I spent my last two hours in Ko-Pangan with Maxim, Tamar and Lior (Tamar's freind). Maxim escorted me to the taxi, we said Goodbye again, and I left! (I will and I already do miss him a lot).

The next morning, around 11:00 am after a long trip by boat and bus I got to Raily beach! From the boat you see white sand, blue water surrounded by height rocky mountains. There are Raily West and East beaches, they are 10 minutes walk away one from another, the west side is very expensive with beautiful 5 starts resorts. The east side is cheaper, but not much. The cheapest room I could find is 300 baht for night, a room with no windows, no hot shower, and no sink! It didn't bother me, I was so happy to be away from the crowed. I left the bags in the room and went to the beach to have a shake and look around. All the way to the beach I couldn't stop smiling, I was alone BUTvery happy and full of energy, I wanted to go everywhere, to see everything. I read in the book about beautiful Lagoon inside the mountains, about climbing and kayaks, etc'. I wanted to live the day and not the night as in Ko-Pangan and I was definitely in the right place for this. The landscape around is like a scene from an adventure movie. I spent great afternoon of the beach and just roaming around, admiring the scenery around.

About 05:00 pm I went back to the guest house to have a shower, and on my way... Who do you think I meet? Max & David, the two crazy travelers :-). We talked about going together from Ko-Pangan but I really didn't think they are serious about it. These two are party animals, in Ko-Pangan they partied every night and the next day slept late and were too tired to do things (but who am I to say it, I did the same in Ko-Pangan :-)). Anyway I was really happy to see them. Max told me about his plans to explorer the surroundings, we both wanted to see the lagoon and the caves, I was happy that I now have partners.
We had dinner together and went out for some drinks and pool. Since had big plans for tomorrow, around 02:00 am we called it an early night and went to sleep. The next day we had a beautiful day out!!! We climbed all the way to the Lagoon, unfortunately after you get up you need to go down, it was too slippery and in 90% down, I gave up on going down and saw the Lagoon from up, see>
The Lagoon The Lagoon

Max & David did all the way, and I really admired them for it, and was really angry at myself for giving up.
The Lagoon - MAX & DAVID DID IT!

After the Lagoon we continued to the view point, some more up on the other side of the mountain. We got the point and we went WOW!
Raily East and West view, from the view point (up on the mountain)

Today the plan was to go and do rock climbing course, but it was heavy raining in the morning, I saw Maxim and David after breakfast and we decided to have a sleep till rain stops. Eventually we started the day around 01:00 pm (the rain stooped at least two hours earlier). Max & David decided to go for the half day course anyway, so they are climbing as I write. We agreed I will take the pictures, so I must got to document the historical moment.
As for me I decided to have an easy day, on the beach with a book, swim and maybe visit another cave and a view point on the other part of the beach.

The atmosphere here is the same like in Pai, in the evenings there are no loud parties, but there is music every where, nice places for a drink or a smoke. People are smiling and mingling one with another, there are fire shows, etc, I found PAI but with a beautiful ocean in addition!
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I LOVE IT!

P.S I will probably move to Ko Pi-Pi in a day or two...

Ko- Pangan

About Ko-Pangan
Ko-Pangan, Hadrin beach
I am in Ko-Pangan for the last 10 days (got here on the 12/09). We stay in Hadrin beach, the most crowded beach because of the parties. Every night there is a dance party on the beach, you can stay in Cactus, which offers dance, hip-hop music. Place also know as the best pick up place, the hunting area. You can go to the ZOOM for a good trance music where people are into intensive dance music! There is also the Drop-In and others.... The bottom line every night the beach becomes alive, with buckets of alcohol sold everywhere, fire shows, mixture of music and a lot of beautiful young people (I definitely represent the old generation here in Ko-Pangan, the land of babes & studs)...

For the first night I got to the beach, I left two hours later with a big head ache from the different music tunes all mixing in my head. In general I am not too impressed from Ko-Pangan. I imagined myself beautiful place with breath taking view. Instead it is a crowd party island, specifically the Hadrin beach where we stay, it is like concentrated Eilat, and it is 90% occupied by Israelis, even the Thai speak Hebrew in here.

Having all this said, I am in Ko-Pangan already 10 days. I had the best time in the half-moon party and several great evenings on the beach. We did some roaming around the island on a bike but most of the time, just walk up very late, get a massage, see a movie (there are pubs in here which they show movies the all day, or you can see all the episodes of Friends...). And in the evening parties again. It is hard in Ko-Pangan!!!

I have just realized I haven't introduce the people I am here with. Well, I share a room with Maxim and Itai (Maxim meet Itai on his way to the Island). Our neighbours, Adi (girl 24), David (23), Max (23), are also Maxim's friends whom he meet in Ko-Samui. So when I got to Ko-Pangan they were all already partying together. I didn't really connected with non of them, I mean if Maxim would introduce us, our ways wouldn't ever cross. Anyway, they are fine, and we do spend sometime together (as less as possible if it is up to me :-) (what a snob I am). Anyway I have a lot of quality time with myself, I get massages done on a daily basis, meet a lot of different people for conversation over lunch, or a beer. It is really cool!

And one last thing, we stay in beatiful bungalow up on the hill, and there are the best sunsets I can see from the hammock in the porch!!!
Sunset from the porch

Half moon party Ko-Pangan (15/09 – 16/09)
I started to dance around 02:00 am and stopped the next day (16/09) at 06:00 pm. No sleep in between, from the party directly to the after party on the beach. It was the BEST!
We (Maxim & his friends) had several drinks in the guest house, took a taxi and went to the half moon party which was somewhere up in the forest. We got there, all in a happy party mood, and immediately got lost in the crowed. I found the best spot next to a huge speaker and although I am not very found of trance music (I wasn't, I mean), this time I felt completely connected to the tunes. I couldn't stand for even a second, the only brakes I did were to have a quick drink, and back to the mad dancing again.
In every point I would looked around me, I saw a friendly, happy, smiling faces of people around, I felt surrounded by friends, although completely strangers, we shared one thing in common the energy! and the music!! Later on that night and in the after party the next day I actually meet some of the people from the dance floor, some for breakfast, others for more dancing, etc'. We have been bounded by music J!
I will try to describe the party place, since obviously my camera was left home. It was up on the hill, in the middle of forest. Great sound, beautiful, colorful longs all around, the ultra lights made it all look very electronic. People had body drawings which glow in the ultra. I had one done as well, beautiful sun on the belly. It wasn't too crowded, people who were on the full moon parties said that this one is much better. And the atmosphere was amazing, pure fun! The after party took place not far from the original party place, with the best addition > THE BEACH. It's kind of a pub on the beach (Baan Thai beach, or something like this, about 20 minutes drive from the beach we stay on). Inside, heavy trance music, outside the sea!
I got back to the room at 06:00 pm, my body was tired, my foot swollen and in pain, and I just couldn't get enough!!!!

IT WAS THE BEST PARTY EVER!

20/09 Birthday
I went to bed relatively early the night before so I will make sure we will wake up and take a boat around the island, with stops in different virgin beaches and snorkeling. We planned to take the boat the all week, but always wake up too late. Anyway on the 20th morning, Me & Maxim wake up really early, at 10:00 am. At 11:00 am we were down on the beach, bought two tickets for the Reggae boat for 12:00 am. Maxim invited me for a breakfast before we move on. We got on a boat (15 tourist, we were the only Israelis) and were instructed by the guide as for the boat rules: "We have one rule on the Reggae boat", the guy said. "You cannot say NO when somebody gives you a joint. First time you say NO, you stay without water, second time - without food, and the third time you swim back to Hadrin". Me & Maxim of course loved the rule!
Reggae boat
It was a beautiful ride, first we stopped in a waterfall, then in the bottle beach and some other beaches, did some snorkeling, I mean everybody else did, I tried but couldn't breath for some reason. It was a beautiful day, finally out in the nature and far away from the crowded Hadrin beach. In the evening we got back, I went to take a massage (of course) and we all meet up in the room to have a drink for my birthday. After the drink, the beach again! I couldn't dance, I was too tired and the music didn't drive me. So I stayed some time and on the beach and Me, Maxim and Tamar (21) (girl Maxim meet in Bangkok) went back to the room, to have a quiet night. We played Poker till 05:00 am, I lost a fortune to Maxim, but it was great fun!

Tamar brought me a present with a beautiful card she wrote. I know this girl for 2 days only,(Maxim meet her in Bangkok and couple of days ago she arrived in Ko-Pangan) it was really touching. She is the sweetest girl, warm and kind. The nicest person I meet in the Ko-Pangan partying scene, the island of babes and studs as I said earlier.

Now what?
I am not sure, I want to leave Ko-Pangan, move on to other Islands, more nature, less crowd. But on the other hand I am so lazy!!! And there is a black moon party tomorrow....
I also understood that now the visa rules have changed and I cannot renew my visa to Thailand just by crossing the border, they require by away from Thailand 3 months before you can get in again. This means that I can stay in Thailand till the 07/10 tops. So I need to decide on the next destination and explorer some more of Thailand before I leave.

As for the revolution, don't worry about it. I am far away from the news! And NO, I had nothing to do with the revolution, I promise :-).

Be well! & Shana Tova!!!

P.S more pictures are here as always, although in Ko-Pangan I took the camera out rarely....

I miss my Kushkush!!!

You will never guess where I am now? Chang Mai!!!!

When we said Goodbye with Maxim, last Tuesday night in Pai, Maxim said: “I am sure that within maxim a week you will cry that you missed your KushKush and catch up with me on the beaches”. Well I must admit he was right!
I got to Luang Praban, Laos on Thursday, spent there 3 rainy lonely days, and yesterday evening after some thinking decided that maybe I should join Maxim on the beaches for the half/full moon parties. It should be nicer to be there together and since he is anyway leaving Thailand within the next month, too shame to spend this time in separate. I called Maxim and said that I am surprising him for his birthday (on the 12/09); I just bought a flights package and will join him in Ko– Pangan on Monday 11/09, or Tuesday the 12/09 morning the latest. He was very happy to hear that I am coming, and even admitted that he missed me too, O, my KushKush!
I know I am crazy; it took me 3 days of a hard trip (bus, boats, etc’) to get to Luang Praban, and after less then 3 days I am flying out. And yes, I spent monthly budget on the tickets as well. BUT WTF!!! Maxim, is like a brother to me and he is celebrating his 20 birthday, we shell have a big party!

So today I took a flight from Luang Praban to Chang Mai, and within an hour I am back in Chang Mai. Now I am in Chang Mai Inn, they were very happy to see me back. I am staying here one night and tomorrow morning flying to Pucket and then to Ko-Samui. So tomorrow at 19:00 I am in Ko-Samui, if I will manage I will take a ferry to Ko-Pangan, if not stay the night in Ko-Samui and on Tuesday morning Ko-Pangan! PARTY!!!

As for Laos, I cannot say much about, since I was not really there. My heart was somewhere else, and as always irrationally I follow my heart! I will come back and explorer Loas one day, maybe this trip, maybe the next!

Be well!

Aurore Mariotte (Talie)

Me & Tali on the way to get the tattoo
The last 3 days I spent on a trip (alone for the first time) allowed me to look back at the mouth I have spent in Thailand. There are many places I saw and many people I meet. But there is one I want you "to meet in person"! She is the kind of person who lights up the room when she gets in. She is radiant and full of life! She is kind and loving! I already mentioned her several times, well, I am glad to present to you, Aurore Mariotte (Talie - name she uses when she
travels, since people have problem to pronounce her name, which sounds 'Oroh'). Aurore is 21 and she is from France.
She is a unique girl, full of life energy! I meet her in Pai, and we shared some good moments together. From the first moment I felt very comfortable and easy to be around here.
As a go away present she did a fire show in the Rege place on my last evening in Pai, it was really breath taking! Tali is an amazing photographer as well, you can check our her website http://artistikphoto.com/.

She possesses qualities of a book heroine, BUT SHE IS REAL! Passionate! Peaceful! and Happy! Really inspiring!

This is one of the meeting I shell take with me!

Be well!

Leaving Pai

I just bought a ticket to Lao, all the way to Luang Prabang. It is almost 3 days joinery. Tomorrow night, I take a direct bus from Pai to Chiangknong the border with Loa, cross the border and take a boat toward Luang Prabang, it is too long of a joinery, so there will be a stop for night in some place (I couldn't even find the name on the map :-)).

I am leaving Pai with such a heavy feeling, I just love this place. Me & Maxim rented a motorbike again and just drove around yesterday and today to admire the beautiful landscape once again before we leave. Maxim is leaving as well, but he is just crossing the border (Burma) to stamp the visa and gets back to Thailand, to the beaches. So we say goodbye tomorrow and each goes to his direction. We might meet later in Australia thought.

I have nothing more to write, I just don't want to spend Pai time on a computer. Just wanted to give you hands on as for my direction and will update you once I reach Loa.
More pictures, more stories to come... and I will always have Pai to come back to, right! :-(

One hour before we leave Pai, Rege place (Pai)
Goodbye Pai 0053

Be well!

Tattoo...

Yesterday the 01/09/2006 is a day I will remember till the rest of my life. It started as an ordinary day in Pai. I went for Yoga (last lesson, totally 8 days of intensive Yoga and now all I need to do is keep on practicing by myself, I hope I will), after the lesson me & Ken (Japan) went for a coffee in an art gallery cafe, the best coffee in Pai. We had a nice conversation and from there each went to his place.
On my way to the guest house I stopped again in Max's tattoo studio. About a week ago, Mark had his tattoo done in studio next to my guest house, I stopped by to see him in pain :-), and got over the different tattoo designs. Back then I didn't realize that a week later I will gather the courage to get one myself. Every day since I was bypassing the tattoo studio, stood sometime out and could not get in. Well, yesterday as I walked to my guest house, alone, I saw the studio open and got in. It was around 01:00pm. I looked at the designs again, and saw something I really liked. A beautiful back painting! That's it! I knew that I have to have it. I showed the design to Max (the owner of the studio), he took measurements and asked to come back at 04:00pm, he will have the drawing ready customized for me, and if I want I can have it done the same day.
While I was talking with Max, Maxim & Oroh were passing through, I called them up. They were really surprised to see me there, and I gladly announced that I closed on a tattoo and I need to come back later to have it done.
We went to my place to have a beer, just to kill the time. The following two hours I was really nervous, one part of me really wanted to get the tattoo, but the other part was really scared! I HATE PAIN! And from what I saw on Mark, he was really in pain. Oroh kept asking me whether I am sure, Maxim on the other hand was encouraging me just to do it. These were long two hours.
At 04:00 PM we came back to the studio, I am doing it! - I said to Max. The drawing looked beautiful (here is a bad picture of the drawing):
The tattoo design

Following were 5 hours of PAIN!!!! And here is the result:
Tattoo

I love body drawings, I always did. I thought about having one several times in my life, but never did. Once in Sinai I had a hina body drawing done on my back. I always considered people who have tattoo (and I am talking about artistic drawing and not skeletons etc') as people who are really in piece with their body. I was not in piece with mine for very long time. Yersteday when I saw the back painting I thought it will look good on mine. I do have a beutiful back I think! And now it is even more :-)

I talked about the Tatto a lot, but this feeling of getting in piece and even in love with your body again is the biggest prize I got from Yoga exercise. Mind and body are connected and this is not just a cliche . I feel good, I look at myself in the mirror and I look good! And all this only after 8 days. I hope to adopt Yoga, or any body exercise for better mind set.

Love you!

Be well!
